Blogging Rule #1: Listen to Your Readers (a.k.a. I’m Starting a New Blog)

08/09/2010

My primary methods of promoting Podzmedia blog posts are through my personal Facebook and Twitter accounts, so I tend to know most of my readers personally. This has allowed me to receive a lot of feedback from readers face-to-face. I’m happy to announce that the feedback has led to the creation of my second blog site: www.beernation.us; a blog reviewing craft/premium beers that makes food pairing suggestions to maximize your experience with the beer. Let me explain further. Read the rest of this entry »

Bing-tastic!!! – My Fifteen Minutes of Fame in the SEO Spotlight

07/08/2010

Yesterday was a big day for me, and the Podzmedia blog. One of my blog posts was at one point as high as number three in the search results on Bing, Microsoft’s search engine! Some of you may have seen the post about the Cisco Cius tablet that I posted late Tuesday night (read that blog). Wednesday morning I noticed that five visits to the blog had been the result of search queries for “cisco cius.” So I searched for the term on Google and Yahoo from home. No luck. Podzmedia was nowhere to be found in the first several pages of results on either search engine.

04/11/2010

I’m definitely going to take a semester off to 1) concentrate on finding new employment, and 2) rest and rejuvenate. Working a 40+ hours per week job and going to school full-time has been taxing. But I know that I want to go back for a master’s degree. And I don’t want to wait too long to do so. The only questions are: Where? And which program? I have several alternatives lined up. I’m just not sure what I want to do. Read the rest of this entry »

Good to be Back: My Facebook Fast is Finished

04/04/2010

For those of you who didn’t know, I participate in the Catholic tradition of Lent each year. For the 40 days preceding Easter, Catholics abstain from one thing they do often. This year I chose to fast from social networking sites. More specifically: Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. I could speak of the matter and its religious connotations. But since this is a marketing blog, I’m going to keep my comments here restricted to social commentary. Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome to my new blog!

03/14/2010

I’ve written “blogs” before on websites like MySpace. But they were always sporadic and never had a consistent topic. They were really more my chaotic, personal musings like you might find on Twitter today than they were blogs. Read the rest of this entry »
